Hedi Slimane, creative director of Saint Laurent Paris and fashion critic agigtator, is a major music fan too, always looking for ways to tie the two worlds together, and so has tapped Marilyn Manson, Daft Punk, Courtney Love, Kim Gordon and Ariel Pink for a little experiment called the Saint Laurent Music Project.
This weekend on the big screen at Coachella, Daft Punk premiered a one-minute clip for their single Get Lucky with Pharrell Willams and legendary guitarist Nile Rodgers jamming out in heavily sequined new gear from Saint Laurent, the French label who’s creative direction was recently taken over by noted music lover Hedi Slimane. PenUP is a monthly songwriter networking event aimed at bringing some of music’s best and brightest upcoming and established songwriters along with music industry executives to one central location to discuss trends in the industry and upcoming placement opportunities.
